OATMAN GHOST TOWN Oatman is a fun place to visit -- an authentic old western town with burros roaming the streets and gunfights staged on weekends. The burros are tame and can be hand fed. When my wife and I visited in January of this year, I was surprised to see five old Model T Fords out for a Sunday drive down the main street of Oatman. The cars fit right in with the romantic image of this old town, taking us back to the 1915 era old west. LAUGHLIN RIVER RUN The river run was started in 1983 with 426 participants. It was conceived by Harley-Davidson dealer Dale Marschke, who wanted to bring his customers on a fun weekend ride. The name comes from the river run to Oatman, Arizona that many of the rally goers participate in.
The River Run in Laughlin Nevada is one of the largest Nevada biker rallies. In 2007 it was over 100 degrees, but the 70,000 plus attendees still had a great time. As one of the largest West Coast bike rallies, the Laughlin River rally is on the 2008 Lightning Customs Major Biker Rally List.
